Carl Randall painting on show at the O Art Museum in Tokyo, 15 to 21 December 2022

‘Nihonbashi’, a painting by Daiwa Scholarship alumnus and artist Carl Randall is being included in an exhibition at a museum in Tokyo this month. The acrylic on canvas painting (73 x 91cm, 2020) was originally commissioned by a private art collector in Japan, who asked Carl to make a painting featuring the ‘Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway’.

【沖縄復帰50年】インタビュー② ひめゆり平和祈念資料館・普天間朝佳館長「記憶の継承―沖縄から平和を考える」

今年、沖縄が日本に復帰して50年を迎えます。この半世紀を振り返り、沖縄の人にインタビューをしながら、日本本土とは異なった歴史や文化を持った沖縄の現状を様々な角度から考えます。

2回目のインタビューは、ひめゆり平和祈念資料館の普天間朝佳(ふてんま・ちょうけい)館長です。普天間さんは、1989年資料館の開館時に職員として採用され、2017年、戦後生まれとして初の館長に就任。沖縄戦、ひめゆり平和祈念資料館の開館から現在まで、そして未来への継承について伺いました。
