The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation is thrilled to be supporting Playbox Theatre's trip to Japan in July 2025
Playbox Theatre’s touring company consists of 24 members, including 20 young people, who will be working extensively in schools and with participants of Model Language Studio across Tokyo and Saitama Prefecture.
Using Playbox Theatre’s signature approach to creative education, Playbox will be delivering English language workshops to hundreds of Japanese students in partnership with the excellent MLS.
Playbox’s young actors have immersed themselves in Japanese language, culture, customs, and etiquette, and have spent the past weeks rigorously rehearsing and preparing educational material for delivery across the schools and sites they will visit.
As a celebration of their work, the company has devised a 10-minute ceremony-style performance to be shared at several public and educational venues throughout Tokyo. This piece captures the spirit, creativity, and internationalism of Playbox Theatre.
The group have also arranged a number of cultural visits, including trips to Kamakura and Mount Fuji, to enhance the group’s understanding of Japan’s history and environment.
The company is energised, focused, and thrilled to be representing Playbox—and the UK—in this important international venture.
