In this talk, Paris-based Tsuyoshi Tane, one of Japan’s most prominent architects, will share insights into his major architectural works, including the Hirosaki Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Estonian National Museum, as well as ongoing projects such as 388 FARM and the new main building of the Imperial Hotel, scheduled for completion in 2036. He will also share his perspective on what architecture can be, drawing on his architectural philosophy and approach to design.

Tsuyoshi Tane

Since 2006, Architect Tsuyoshi Tane has been based in Paris, where he founded ATTA – Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects. He believes that architecture belongs to the memory of a place, as a connection between the past and the future, his concept of “Archaeology of the Future”. Tane’s major works include “Estonian National Museum,” “Hirosaki Museum of Contemporary Art,” “The Al Thani Collection – Hôtel de la Marine,” “Vitra – Tane Garden House,” and “Imperial Hotel Tokyo New Main Building (scheduled for completion in 2036).
Throughout his career, Tane has received numerous awards and honours, including Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture in 2022, Grand Prix AFEX, the 67th Minister of Education and Fine Art New-Face Award, among others. He publishes books, including ‘TSUYOSHI TANE Archaeology of the Future Vol. I & II’ (TOTO Publications).
