Nonomiya/Song of Rona Island – taking place at Edinburgh International Book Festival this August!

Noh Reimagined theatre company will introduce Noh Theatre in Part One with Nonomiya – a piece based on the oldest novel of all time (The Tale of Genji).

Song of Rona Island is a new collaboration, based on Scottish poet and essayist, Kathleen Jamie’s essay On Rona, which blends Scottish and Japanese folklore, myth and music, in Part Two.

Kathleen Jamie FRSL FRSE was Scotland’s fourth Makar from 2021 to 2024.

The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation supported travel to Tokyo in January 2024 by two musicians to collaborate with Noh performer Kanji Shimizu on workshops and a work-in-progress concert for this new Noh piece based on the essay On Rona by Kathleen Jamie.
