Daiwa Scholar Jake Barraclough starring in the latest campaign for GREAT - showcasing the best of the UK

Jake Barraclough is one of the Daiwa Scholars 2023, and an elite runner.

Jake has been chosen to star in the latest campaign for GREAT, a government program aiming to showcase the best of the UK and encourage foreign investment.

In 1823, William Webb Ellis, a student at Rugby School, caught a football and ran with it to invent the sport of rugby. This story inspired “The Audacious Run” campaign, which he is participating in.

From Saturday 26 August until 6 September, Jake will be attempting to run 450km from Rugby School to Paris, where the Rugby World Cup will take place this September.

This challenge will involve running a distance of around 10 marathons in 10 days!

Jake’s progress will be documented online and through video updates on social media (@greatcampaign), with a commercial for GREAT being produced at the end.
