Daiwa Scholarships alumnus and artist Carl Randall has a new Japan-themed painting on show at the Hampstead Art Society Summer Exhibition until 11 July at Gallery 8 in Mayfair, central London. His oil painting The Kokeshi Maker is one of 90 artworks chosen from 3,252 worldwide submissions. The show also includes paintings by Winifred Nicholson

A new Japan painting by Daiwa Scholarship alumnus and artist Carl Randall has been selected for this year’s Royal Society of Portrait Painters Exhibition, 7 to 19 May. ‘Graveyard Getsuho’ will be included in the show at the Mall Galleries in central London. The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation has published details of grants awarded to support UK-Japan projects in its latest funding round (September 2017). The Foundation will support artists Eleanor Morgan and Sam Curtis to travel to Japan to enhance their skills in “gyotaku” or fish rubbing, after which they will run workshops in London to encourage people to learn about ocean ecology.

The Experience Japan Exhibition is now in its seventh year. The event gets bigger each year with more and more people taking part to find out about the growing range of study and work opportunities available in Japan. Butoh Training by Florencia Guerberof: this Butoh Training will take place on the evenings of the 13th and 15th of December. The two three hours sessions will be preceded by a guided warm up starting at 5.45 PM, fifteen minutes prior the start of the Butoh training. Please note that arriving on time for the warm-up is essential. Be prepared for a very intense and physically demanding practice.
