Very many congratulations to Daiwa Scholarships alumnus and artist, Carl Randall. In 2022 we awarded a Daiwa Foundation Small Grant to enable travel to Japan by the artist Jason Wilsher-Mills. As part of a collaboration with Keio Graduate School of Media Design (KMD) and supported by Arts Council England and Shape Arts, Jason delivered an artist residency and workshops for local disability groups in spring 2023.

Very many congratulations to Daiwa Scholarship alumnus, Edmund Stenson. Edmund worked as associate director on ‘Navalny’, a film about Russian dissident Alexei Navalny. The documentary won a BAFTA and an Oscar!

‘Nihonbashi’, a painting by Daiwa Scholarship alumnus and artist Carl Randall is being included in an exhibition at a museum in Tokyo this month. The acrylic on canvas painting (73 x 91cm, 2020) was originally commissioned by a private art collector in Japan, who asked Carl to make a painting featuring the ‘Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway’.
